Floor & Vault Classes
Boys / Girls Floor and Vault Development Class
Our Floor & Vault Development Classes are designed for children who have mastered the basic gymnastics skills and are advancing through the Club's Proficiency Programme. Gymnasts in this class are selected by their coach or through a trial process. Participants will focus on developing their skills in Floor & Vault, working towards the Scottish Gymnastics Competitive Skills Matrix. They will have the opportunity to compete in the Lasswade Gymnastics Club Championships and may be chosen to participate in local Floor & Vault Competitions. These classes are held once a week for 1.5 hours, exclusively on Sundays.
Boys / Girls Intermediate Floor and Vault Class
The Intermediate Floor & Vault classes are for children who are progressing quickly in their gymnastics skills and are working within the SGA Competition Skills Matrix. Gymnasts in these classes will be invited to compete in the Lasswade G.C. Club Championships and attend Regional Floor & Vault Competitions. (Please note this is a competitive pathway, and gymnasts in these classes are expected to compete when invited). Gymnasts are selected for this class by their coach or through a trial. These classes are held for 2 hours per week, only on Sundays. Gymnasts may also be invited to participate in additional Strength and Conditioning sessions.
Boys / Girls Advanced Floor and Vault Class
The Advanced Floor & Vault class is for gymnasts who the coaching team believes would benefit from a longer training session. These gymnasts will experience all apparatus, with a particular focus on developing advanced skills on Floor and Vault for their competition program. Gymnasts in this class will be invited to compete in Regional Floor & Vault Competitions and may also be selected for the Scottish Floor & Vault Competitions. (Please note this is a competitive pathway, and gymnasts are expected to attend competitions when invited). These classes are 3 hours per week, held exclusively on Sundays. Gymnasts will also be invited to additional Strength and Conditioning and Tumble sessions.
Floor & Vault Strength and Conditioning Classes
Our Floor & Vault Strength and Conditioning Classes are designed to support gymnasts in building the physical strength, power, and endurance necessary for success in their Floor & Vault routines. These sessions focus on developing key areas such as core stability, explosive power, flexibility, balance, and overall athletic conditioning, all of which are vital for performing advanced gymnastics skills.
The classes are tailored to complement the gymnasts’ regular training, helping them improve their performance and prevent injury by strengthening the muscles used in their Floor & Vault routines. Coaches will guide athletes through a combination of bodyweight exercises, resistance training, and flexibility drills, ensuring that each gymnast develops a strong foundation in all aspects of their physical fitness.
Strength and Conditioning is an essential part of the competitive gymnastics pathway, and gymnasts in the Intermediate and Advanced Floor & Vault classes will be invited to participate in these sessions to enhance their training. These classes are held once a week and are designed to be an integral part of a gymnast’s overall development, ensuring they are equipped with the strength and endurance needed to perform at their best in competitions.
Participation in Strength and Conditioning classes will be strongly recommended for gymnasts looking to improve their performance and achieve their goals in Floor & Vault gymnastics.
Progress and Commitment Reviews
If a coach or gymnast feels that progress or commitment is not meeting expectations, a meeting with parents will be arranged to discuss options to help the gymnast get back on track or consider future training pathways. Please remember that all gymnasts develop at different rates, and it is common for gymnasts to adjust their training schedule or pathway during their gymnastics journey.
